These planispheres can be used to identify stars in the sky (above the horizon) from Earth's Southern hemisphere --based on the month and time of day. It's a perfect gift for astronomy lovers and looks great just sitting on a desk or as a super intricate (and giant) enamel pin. Whatever your reason for purchasing it, I hope that it inspires you to look up and to identify some constellations in our beautiful night sky! : )
Please note that the text on these is very small --it's the only way to fit so much wonderful information on it, while keeping the planisphere's size practical. Make sure to look at the product photos to make sure that the text size is a good fit for you, before ordering. Please also note that the pearlescent swirls and details on each planisphere will vary because each one is hand-painted and, so, each is one of a kind. : )
Please note!
This planisphere is for latitudes 30-65 deg in the Southern Hemisphere. If you need the Northern Hemisphere version, you can find it here.
As with any planisphere, there is some distortion/skewing of the star placements. The sky is huge! And comparatively, this planisphere is very small. As you can imagine, a lot of squishing in of information is required. While it's designed to be as accurate as possible, please keep the size in mind. If you need a less distorted version, and don't need something as portable, make sure to look for a much bigger paper planisphere that has all the info you want : )
If you have any questions or need help, just ask! I'm happy to help you.
